Stop Press!!!

1791?? l was impressed because our little Max was traceable back to 1791?? l humbly withdraw that comment on further delving into his prestigious past! Following one certain line took me back to Old Bald Peg  (truly....!!) who was born between 1647 and 1655.

What is even more impressive is that the little terror has the Darely Arabian in his bloodline! The Darely Arabian, the Byerly Turk and the Godolphin Barb were THE three foundation sires  of the British Thoroughbred. No wonder the little critter runs so fast!!  Fascinating stuff!

l wonder if we could trace our cows back that far?
l think Auntie Jack might fancy herself in a diamond encrusted tiara!

An impeccable pedigree!

As you all know, Clips's best (only ) mate is a little Welsh Mountain pony called Max. We have his registration papers here so tonight l looked up his Sires name on Google and was more then impressed to discover that Cazebo Park Mack (Max) can trace his lineage back to 1791!!!! Who would have thought!!!
Max...........we are impressed!!!

Bands Of Colour

Such a glorious time of year. Definitely my favourite l think. Today Geoff and l both had the day off as it was Anzac Day.We pottered around the garden in the morning  cutting and moving wood. We headed into town in the afternoon to finally buy the material to finish the horse shelter! Clips's half only ever had old bent tin on the roof which leaked, so now he has a brand new roof and should now be snug as Max next door!
The garden is giving its last hurrah of colour before Winter sets in. In between rain showers, huge gusty winds and falling leaves we had beautiful moments of sunshine which made the garden look so pretty l had to run for the camera!!!
The Maples brilliant red against the yellow Willows.
Some Love in the Mist still popping up!
Looking up into the hills beyond
 Just glorious!

Anyone for Walnuts?

Today Geoff and l picked up Walnuts........................Lots of Walnuts..........This was about half an hours worth...We haven't even made a dent...........
We then raked and mowed the lawn to an inch of its life. No leaves... no walnuts............THEN we remembered the roof of the gazebo thing that sits UNDER the Walnut Tree............Aaaaghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh MORE Walnuts!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tomorrow.....l will rake them off the roof tomorrow..............l will NOT dream of Walnuts tonight........l will NOT dream of Walnuts tonight...............

First Frost!

First for the year!! Not a bad one. Just enough to make the ground crunchy and your fingers go numb! Mind you.. cold enough to not really make me want to go outside so snapped my first photo out of the bedroom window!!
And cold enough for the cows to need lots of hay!
The calves are still drinking from their Mums as Nancy here with her face covered in milk shows!!
Mind you............as we now have a GREENHOUSE!!!...... Frost wont bother our veggies and seedlings anymore!
Finally finished last weekend.
It's quite amazing inside. Very complex...
Almost a religious experience when you look up!!!!
Not quite angels but l managed to get a photo out of the window of a flock of Cockatoos which are descending on the Walnut Tree every morning to have a feast. l heard them screeching, grabbed my camera and aimed out of the window but only snapped these two as they all took off!

Getting more eccentric??

A wander into one of our local junk/secondhand shops the other day in my lunch break had me leaving with a wonderful eclectic handful of Indian napkin ring holders for $4! Garish gold with green, blue, yellow and red glass embedded in them made me a very happy chappy indeed!!
The find was particularly opportune as a week or so ago l came across (at the Margate Train my absolute favourite secondhand shop!) this amazing ultimately garish cutlery set!!! A perfect accompaniment to my purple wine goblets and my ever growing collection of red glass! They are Thai, brushed brass with Bison horn (oh dear!) handles!!! Amazing! l just love them!!
All l need now is people for dinner to display all my acquisitions and l will be in heaven!!
l also splashed out on this lamp that l have had my eye on for months. It is just perfect for here. There used to be two and l dithered over them then.On my last visit there was only one left so l grabbed it before someone else did! And l WILL clean the brass Ma.... l promise !!!
l love the detail on the stem. It looks like it used to be something else before it was made into a light stand?
Margate Train.l love you but you are sooooo not good for my bank balance!

Dark nights...

Daylight Savings has finished......the nights are starting to close in..........It's that time of year again...Not much feed left in the paddocks. They are tired and bare after an incredibly long dry Summer. Time to feed the cows........
And hungry ponies....!!!
But there is still a splash of colour in the garden
And glorious shades of red begin to appear as the colder days arrive.
Photo after photo of amazing light occupy my mornings. This one had me running back to the house for my camera vowing never to leave home without it this time of year!!
Fog and misty mornings........
And  early sun through the trees.
Goodbye Daylight Savings but hello to my favourite time of year...

Dont................

EVER have a picnic with a Shire horse!!!!
Geoff and l did (foolishly!!) Well it wasn't really a picnic as such. It started off as a bonfire to clean up some old Willow sticks in the paddock.
It was a beautiful day which evolved into a cider and a beer, a read and a nap in the late afternoon
Which turned into an elongated snooze.............
With small dog.........
Which then led on to an impromptu BBQ cooked on the coals.............
The big fellow wasn't content to watch from afar..........
He wanted to join in!
He thought it was all just fascinating!!!
He simply ATE the roll of paper towels........
And sucked the tea towel...
(Treeka knew it wasn't safe and watched from afar...)
And still he kept on..............he ate most of our bread.........he had some wine..........he sucked the BBQ sauce bottle..........licked the gravy off the lamb chop......truly!...
l think if he could have he would have sat in the chair!
l could hardly even SEE Geoff half the time due to this big black bouffy head in my way!!!
But for all his 'bigness' he never put a foot wrong........even though he WAS  a bit intimidating!
Even when it got late and he started yawning...........

And yawning...............
He was always the beautiful well behaved gent ..
As was his little mate.
A very funny enjoyable evening........
