Maxie Love!

Max is in love! Serious love!!! The object of his affection is a tiny little black miniature pony in the paddock next door. It's not ideal as the dividing line on that particular section of fencing is barbed wire but the small amount of time Maxie gets to spend with his girl is generally supervised by either Geoff or myself!
She is a sweet little thing but quite shy.
The other pony in with her is ( l think) her foal from a year or so ago. He doesn't get much of a look in!
Lots of kisses. l think she makes Max feel very big and strong!!!
Being black it's hard to get a photo of her really. She shows up as a dark blob in most of the shots!
Ahhh! Young love!!

End of Easter!

Four days off for Geoff and three for me. Four days too short all round we have decided!! As usual we didn't get as much done as we wanted but had a lovely break all the same. Geoff got stuck into repairing the big old windows on the veranda that need a bit of new glass and some TLC. One of those really boring jobs that desperately need to be done before Winter.
l painted the courtyard cream!  Aaaaaaaaaaghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! l haaaaaaaaatttte itttttt!! It now looks like a bland, boring insipid toilet block! All temporary thank goodness . Just a prep coat for our new fabulous colour which hopefully should be ordered and ready to put on next weekend! Can't wait!
We both collected walnuts, walnuts, walnuts, walnuts!!!! Geoff picked up on a novel back saving way of collecting them The horse pooper scooper!! (Clean of course, but it IS a good thing that Walnuts come in shells!)
 Only the beginning!!!
And time for a sit down...always have to have time to sit and smell the roses. (Or in this case, the big fermenting blue barrel of cow poo !)
Happy Easter!

Beautiful Bruce!

Can a big ugly cantankerous Gander EVER look beautiful?? l'd like to think so!
l think Bruce does a magnificent job of it as he stretches his wings on a beautiful pink sky morning!
Not quite like a ballerina in Swan Lake but a pretty good impersonation Bruce!!!
 Beautiful!

Wishful Thinking!

l thought we were almost done???? What was l thinking!!! Colours still to be chosen and THIS is proving to be quite hard. We want a deep ochry earthy colour but it is difficult to get it just right! Still not there yet!
This needed to be emptied and there was a LOT of dirt in it!
Moved out of the way and at last given us a clearer view of the area.
It still looks like a building site though!
And my poor little Rooster still living with his Mummy, baby brother and sister!
What a sad little fellow he is!

Bonfire and Burgers!

A bonfire this evening to clear up some old branches, cardboard boxes and ''burnable stuff"  from last Summer .
Lilli as usual was happy to be involved...............
VERY happy.......
Geoff appears to be doing his usual Indian War Dance with the flames!!
Afterwards,  before the Sun went down we had our very first very slap happy dinner in the courtyard!
Amongst the builders rubble, we resurrected the old fire pot and had absolutely delicious home made hamburgers.
With paint samples sploshed on the walls!
And yes...you guessed it..............Lilli was happy to be there..........

Nearly done!! Almost!

Great progress with the courtyard these past few weekends. Still lots to do but the basics are well under way now! Next section of wall /fence going up!
 And from behind.
Using a pair of old gates this time l have had forever. A bit rusty but they add to the character!
Work in progress!
Fence palings as we go! Got to keep those goats out!
Blueboard on.
Temporary coat of paint until we are ready for final colour!
From the inside! (Poor old Wisteria hanging down!)
The outside!
 And the back!
 Good work indeed!

Hurricane Shed!

Today Geoff and l continued with our new shed! We decided not to use the front tin panel but opted for some leftover Weathertex weatherboards we had instead. They match the wall we put up at the end of the garage so thought they would look a lot better (which they will once painted!)
It all went swimmingly and started to look very smart.....this photo of Treeka and Pushka supervising the build is actually to prepare you for the sad old sight she looked however when we put the roof on.............................Ready????
l did warn you and l hope no one is laughing..............Mum??????
The roof was hard!!! It really needed about three 6.2 foot men and we only had us two! AND we put it on first upside down (but apparently l am not supposed to tell you that!!!) SO we had to pull it off, flip it over and put it on again........and it was big and floppy and awkward and heavy and it kept on falling apart more and more as we flopped it back on the top of the shed!!!!!!!!!!! (((sigh!!!!))) It sort of looked like an old shed AFTER Hurricane Harry or something!!
But we did it! We bashed and banged and stomped and nailed and flattened it out somewhat!!! But it's not finished yet! We ran out of day!! We need more roofing nails, a few more supports inside and some paint! But it's a great little shed and will close our yard in nicely and house the slasher once it's done!
Just don't look too closely at the roof!!!!

A week catch up!

A few random pics of the week that was as the end of Daylight Savings rapidly approaches! The little gypsy wagon slowly but surely progressing along. And added to  today by these gorgeous little red table and chairs l bought from work. They fold up flat so will be able to fit inside easily and brought out when needed!
The big fella plodding along in the glorious morning sunshine. With the Sun behind me here........
T
Then turning around  to face it as l wait for little Maxie to catch us up.........Having his morning canter through the Plovers!
More gorgeous morning sun. This time from the back porch.
And Lilli thrown in for a laugh after probably having eaten too much dinner!!!
Then back to Autumn with the Creeper thing (Virginia? ) going a very early bright red around a water tank.
AND most excitingly!!!! Another length of fence going up for the courtyard!!! It's going to be fun cutting out all the palings for THIS section!!! !!!Hopefully great inroads will be achieved tomorrow on a Public Holiday day off for us both.
