The World according to Max!

Yesterday we decided to grab the horses and take them for a walk up to the top paddock. We hadn't been up there for a while , it was a beautiful evening, and we thought we would take a bottle of cider and beer and have a peaceful end of day drink in the shade of the goats' shelter we built last year.
Get beer, get cider, horses and Lilli in her favourite carry bag. (Treeka had to stay behind as she is terrified of Mad Max!) Easy!  Geoff led Max and the big fellow just walks alongside .
The first sign of trouble began when Geoff opened his beer..........
And we sat down...................... Hello there!!!

Can l have some?
Seriously l would LOVE some beer................
We both would...........
Or Cider.................Some cider would be fine.....................

Wild Day

This afternoon we got hit by a massive wind storm down here in the Huon! l type this by candlelight as the Walnut tree twists and contorts outside!!! Massive winds and lashing rain! A bit different to the rest of Australia who is being bombarded by bush fires and horrendous temperatures. Least we have lots of candles here!
And a fire to cook dinner on!
Who needs power???
Our Maraschino Cherry tree sadly  though became a victim of the storm.
As did the Hobart Cup. Got to love these photos pinched out of our daily newspaper today!
Cancelled due to bad weather!
Some girls hated it.................
Some loved it!!! Great shots of an exceptionally wild day!

Frosty February!!!!???

This morning we woke up to a mild frost! February??? lt burnt the Pumpkins, potatoes and some of the lower  lying grapes! Poor pumpkins!!
The potatoes that Geoff dug around in only yesterday!
And poor grapes!!!! Not what we expect in the first week of what traditionally can be our hottest month!
The day turned out to be just stunning though  which evolved into a beautiful evening.
We took a glass of wine out to the wagon and enjoyed the warmth of the evening rays.
Cheers!

Cool Change!

Today as predicted the cool change swept across the State ( and the bottom half of Australia l think by all accounts!) We plummeted to a blissful 11 degrees with rain to fill the tanks and soak the earth. We lit the fire...just because we could!
Geoff bandicooted around in the potato beds and came up with some fresh potatoes for dinner, along with lamb chops, some delicious fresh corn on the cob and zucchinis. A meal 100% from our own place. Very satisfying!.
The horses were quite fascinated by the goings on! Waiting for a wayward carrot or an apple of course!
It COULD be a bit of a concern, them being so close to the veggie garden.............but they haven't tried scaling the fence yet!
Nor have these grumpy buggers either!!
And a lovely splash of blue l found today in my Monday Treasure Hunt of the Op Shops!!! This gorgeous bright blue patchwork cushion! Totally away from my usual reds, oranges and yellows but  l loved it all the same!

Bearings!!!!

The slasher has decided to die.Again! This time possibly a bearing (somewhere!) apparently! l have no idea! To me its a big noisy thing that looks like a relic from the 50's! But evidently a bearing has gone and it's not going!!!! At an annoying time too!  It's perfect for knocking the tops off all the long yellow grass and leaving surprisingly green stuff underneath!
A kick didn't work ..............
Nor did a jump start!
Lilli watched from the safety and cool of the sitting room!
As the past few days have been very hot and dry
We have all sizzled and frizzled! Not a patch on the poor old Mainland though so l shouldn't complain............but it's hot for Tassie!
Heaven knows how all the flowers survive!
And an interesting shadow this morning when l got up!
l always have loved the light this house can throw!!!
