March Days!

Did l say that l had fish? l bought three goldfish from the Pet Shop for my small pond....and they had babies...............so now l have lots of fish in BOTH my ponds..... One was meant to be a frog pond but that plan seems to have changed........We love the fish and many an evening was spent this month with a glass of wine, a chair and a packet of goldfish food feeding our fish!
They start off black and turn gold as they get older. And hopefully prettier!!!
A bit of rain in March gave us some very strange fungus growing in our flowerbeds!!
And have l mentioned how much we love our new doors!! A perfect place for a hot Summer afternoon!
And a superb invention! An old Go-cart frame that Geoff picked up at the Tip Shop (as you do?!) . It became the perfect carrying cart for a full roll of wire (that weighs a tonne)
No need to lift it at all! Clever Geoff!
Summer blazed on....
Thank goodness for big shade trees!
Out came the Japanese Anemones....
Lilli sparks up a bit in the sunshine.. She doesn't get out much in the car in Summer as it's generally too hot for her but on the odd occasion she can come with me she gets the rare treat in the driveway of chilling out of the window on my lap. She loves it!
l built a new path to nowhere...... Just around the corner in fact! Just because l think l like building things!
The paper daisies were stunning!
And very co ordinated with this incredible beetle!
Hints of Autumn arrived...........
And a friend and l had the privilege of going to visit a stunning garden on the outskirts of Hobart. Truly inspirational indeed!!!
All l need is a bigger garden..........mature Silver Birches....stone walls.....and.........lots of money...............!!
So fully inspired l came back to build a fence!!!!! Need l say I am NOT the most tidy builder!!! Geoff has a FIT whenever he sees me doing stuff like this! But l  seem to be able to happily step over everything ,never trip up, know where everything is so what's the problem!!!!
So string lines out, spirit levels at the ready l built my fence!
Just a paling fence around one wall of my pond garden.
Half done.....
Hope the ducks don't mind their new view!!!
Then the other half and a coat of paint.....
Always with the vision of it looking like an OLD paling fence.....NEVER a brand NEW one!!
Done! l love it. Closes in the garden from a lot  of the winds and makes it seem more cosy and secret!
With more gates and doorways..........
It changes the whole aspect of this part of the garden.
A far cry from the sheep paddock it used to be!
March hails the Forestry Burn Off season with several beautiful evenings marred by  apocalyptic fires on our horizon.
And mornings are often spoilt by a stinking shroud of smoke in the air...Yuk.
Fog or smoke.........l can't remember!!!......
But moody and beautiful all the same!

February

February. The worst month of the year l reckon. The most nervous for bushfires, the harshest for the garden (and us humans!) and the busiest for bugs, snakes and mosquitoes! Yuk! Thank goodness it's the last month of Summer! A good month for potting up little baby plants that pop up in unwanted place though!
This lot was dug out of paths, pavers and self seeders in areas l didn't really want self seeded!
Meanwhile THIS little pair....................
Are too cute for words
No one can give you the eye like this little girl can!
No one can simply 'look ' at you like THIS little fellow can.........
And NOBODY can steal a coat/hat like Maxie can!!!
Nobody!
The flowers kept on coming.........roses
Agapanthus...
And the Dahlias!
Two little boys found the joys of human contact...... Little Tyrone...........
And Larry...............
Larry was the breach lamb I pulled out on my own (with Dad still in transit) two years ago....
He has turned into the biggest softest sookiest sheep.....
This was his very first pat ever. He now LOVES it...............
As does Tyrone...................
We decided to timber panel the hallway............quick job, no problems............
Ha ha! Crooked walls, broken tiles, architrave glued to the walls, broken walls.....the list went on.......
Still not finished! l think the enthusiasm dwindled!!! We WILL finish it......just not in February!!!!
But l finished this! A lovely big water pot.....
And within days, he arrived!
l DID put a few fish in there but they jumped out which was rather sad!!!!
So l think I will just leave it for the frogs!
Love the view out of the kitchen window this time of year!
And the back!
AND the veranda from our neeeew doors! Still love them!!!
We feel like we are living in a resort!
And the best part of February 2018 was catching up with this gorgeous girl. Hilary, a friend from way back. l don't think we had seen each other for about 17 years. With a husband and little baby girl in tow it was very special indeed.
