And a cold cold night tonight for all us Hobartians (hey Tom!) but with two fires going and lots of candles we are oh so snug down here!

Little Bandicoot!
This morning as l was out in the paddock picking up my enormous mounds of horse poo,l came across this little fellow! l initially thought he was another poo pile and headed towards him with my wheelbarrow! All of a sudden he hopped off a few feet to resume eating. Your initial thoughts when you see a nocturnal animal out in the daylight is that they are sick or injured. This might be the case with this one but it seemed healthy and chirpy enough and so busily eating with his long nose buried into the grass and leaves he had no idea l was there! l went back to the house to get a pet carrier to put him in during the daylight hours and my plan was to release him back outside tonight, but he hopped off across the drive and disappeared into the long grass. l then figured he was probably safe enough away from the Wedge Tails hidden amongst all the bracken. Very sweet!
This is how close he was happily munching away! No fear at all!

A good time to use the word Sh*t ! ! ! !
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!! As if l don't have enough to do!!!!!!!!
And also a good word to use when your oh so proud cat walks in with a dead rat in her mouth and runs under the dining room table to munch and chew it! Nice one Pushka!

Time Wasting!
Spent longer then l should have this morning wandering around the place taking photos! The light was so stunning it was hard not too! The full Winter sun hits the house reasonably early but takes a while longer to get across the whole of the Hay Paddock so the contrast of white crunchy grass and green melted grass is fascinating!
And have l ever told you how much l love this tree??????

Dentist Day!
This morning was chilly! White crispy grass almost like snow!!
l put the horses in the hay paddock for the first time. As predicted they both loved the wide open flat space and hurtled around several times before settling down to eat. Maddeningly my camera went flat after only a few photos so the chance to get some magnificent shots of a massive black horse thundering along were lost!!!! Grrrrr!
This particular shot looks a bit worrying and poor little Max certainly looks worried (as usual!) but it was all in fun and quite harmless!!!
After the fun and games of the morning though came.....................the Dentist!!!!!!! She arrived with huge doses of sedatives and terrifying dental drills and did a great job of filing all poor Eclipse's razor sharp teeth down to nice rounded smooth ones. What a relief for the poor boy. In this photo he might just looks like he is just asleep but l am positive that if l had just pushed him with my finger he would have fallen over!!!
Next was little Max's turn!! His teeth were not so bad and even the Vet was quite taken with how Eclipse (now recovered) came back out of the paddock to stand next to his little mate for reassurance!!!
Max took a lot longer to come out of it and even when dragged back out to the paddock he stood there looking like a little stunned Mullet for quite some time!!! Mind you l felt like that too after she gave me the bill!!! Thank god its only a once a year event!

Intruder!!
Was a coldish night last night. Cold enough for Lilli to want to get as close to the fire as possible!
Very stuck!!! Somehow he had squished his enormous rock hard head through the very small mesh at the side and of course couldn't get back through!!!
AND wasn't scared enough to snatch a juicy piece of apple out of my hand!!!
We have been setting the Possum trap these last few nights as there is evidence of the little critters eating all the buds off the fruit trees in the orchard!!!!!!
Sure enough this morning we caught our second one. Only this one was a bit different..........
He was stuck!!!Very stuck!!! Somehow he had squished his enormous rock hard head through the very small mesh at the side and of course couldn't get back through!!!
He was not happy! He was a large very smelly male who hissed and squealed like a stuck pig at every opportunity!!
Geoff had to get the bolt cutters and CUT the wire of our expensive possum trap and bend them back so he could get his stupid big fat head out!!!
And yes.l did actually feel very sorry for him!!!!!
It can't have been very comfortable and the poor thing had probably been there for hours and hours and was very frightened
He still managed a very good impersonation of a Tassie Devil though when he finally pulled free!AND wasn't scared enough to snatch a juicy piece of apple out of my hand!!!
We put him in the back of the Ute and covered him with a dark tarp so he went to sleep until Geoff had time to take him...................away..................Apparently when he went to let him go he wouldnt get out of the cage!!! Hopefully he is far enough away he won't come back!
The humble beginnings of one stable wall!!!!!!!
And today Geoff and l have been married for exactly one year!! We celebrated with a lovely meal and a bottle of french champagne. l love you my darling man xxxx

Pig!
On my way to work this morning l met what you don't normally expect to meet on your way to work.........a pig! She was having a lovely time snuffling around the edge of the road and was very very happy to see me when l got out to say hello.
And her best friend.....................a dog..................
They played and played having an absolute ball.......well..... the dog played! The pig sort of tolerated it!!!
l went down to the nearest gate and opened it to go down to the house and both happily followed me. l could see pig pens and electric fencing so was confident l had the right place! l patted them both goodbye and went on my way! All the happier for my encounter!
And little Max doing his sad little lost last Unicorn impression again!!!
