A few Randoms

Walking around the garden l often come across objects and 'interesting little things' that l have placed somewhere and have long since been forgotten or grown over by rampant Mint bushes or similar. Every now and then it's fun to pull them out, dust them off, and let them bask in the sunlight for a short while before Nature takes over again and they disappear! Here are just  a few l rummaged around and found yesterday! This lovely porcelain chook.

 A pottery snake l think l dug up in the garden here, nestled up to a birds nest.

A little home made bird perched next to this amazing  nest we found. Completely lined with feathers like an igloo. A real work of art!

 This!!!! No idea!

 An iron chicken l have had for years!

And this one!!!  Hilarious!!!He looks so sad! He shouldn't be! He's safely nestled away near the back door.............under cover................away from the wind and the rain.............

But he does!!!...so sad!

Lazy Day

Saturday and we didn't do much! None of us did! Not even the cat!

Treeka certainly didn't either!

Lilli contemplated life in the driveway .................................

but it was a pretty half hearted effort!

l shifted a few pots around..........

Hung my spider web on the side of the lean to.................

And these funny little family of Owls l found at work!

l admired my latest $2 candlestick purchase............

And positively gloated over my five foot high $4 Op Shop bargain!!!!.........

And that was about it really!!!!

 

Putting the horses out

One of the first jobs of every day. Max runs free as he will never leave his big mate! We put them in yards at night to try and keep them from getting too fat!!

 

 

 

Watching the Sun

Beautiful this morning. It's going to be warm too! The Walnut Tree throws such an enormous amount of shade on the garden in the morning (Well, most of the day really!) Its always a beautiful contrast between light and dark.

Summer????

What seems to be more and more the norm in this upside down, topsy turvey ,roller coaster ride of climate change (((((???)))) and erratic weather patterns...Tassie has shivered these last two days in a whirlwind of freezing cold winds and driving rain as Queensland registers record high temperatures and bushfires threaten towns. Amazing! Mid Summer???

 Inside seemed to be the best bet these past few days

 The fire has been lit yet again. Mainly to dry our soaking wet boots...

 The cat knows where to sit to keep out of the rain!

 Geoff still found time between the showers to pick the latest crop of raspberries though....

And always time of course for a wine and a bonfire ! In beanies and gumboots though... not tee shirts and sun hats!!!

This picture made me laugh.... When you look up close you see us both with our eyes screwed up as the wind blew all the smoke into our faces!!!

Storks

Two new garden members. l bought them locally for not much money at all. l will waterproof the bases and clear coat them with exterior varnish. l think they are both rather splendid!!!

 This one is my favourite!

DeQuolling on New Years Day!

Happy New Year to everyone! Geoff and l had an early night in preparation for our big Chook House build today!  With the wheelbarrow full of tools,Lilli was ready to go.

Here is the shed as it was. NOT Quoll proof.

Everyone settled down to watch

Basking in the sun between the showers.

Mr Magnificent got bored after  a while and wandered off into the paddock for some R& R on his own.

By late morning we had the door on. $2 from the Tip Shop. A useful bargain!

And started putting the ceiling in. The whole shed is very very badly built as we discovered. Nothing is plum and nothing lined up! Everything had to be tailor made to fit each space. Even these sheets of ply had to be wider at one end then the other! Very frustrating and made for slow progress.

Both sheets up. Now to screw them all in.

The construction site was disrupted a few times by determined hens wanting to use their laying boxes by hook or by crook!

One quite happily sat in her nesting box to lay her egg as we banged and crashed, nailed and drilled around her!

By very late afternoon early evening we were finally done! Safe, secure , sturdy and warm

Mr Magnificent came back and was suitably impressed!

If any quoll gets in there he is Super Quoll!

Happy snug safe chooks! Phew! They even have a flash red ceiling!!!

AND next door neighbour approved!!
