Take a Duck to Water???

This afternoon we decided to give our ducks and geese a little treat and herd them out of the orchard where they live and take them out to the front paddock where we have some reeds and a pond thing still happening after the latest rains. Now the goslings are big enough and the worry of being snatched by an Eagle or Falcon is gone, it seemed like a good time!
Off we went. They are very easy to muster as long as you don't go too fast!!
Through the gate........the pond is in sight!!!
It took a bit of manoeuvring to get them near the water...
But at last they saw it!!
In the ducks went...
And the Geese!
They all seemed to love it.....for about 2 minutes!!!
Then out they all came!!!
Next thing, Peg has waddled under the gate....with the three Runners in tow....across the yard, through the garden gate and they all ran home!!! Back to their little blue plastic tubs of water......!
The Geese stayed up by the gate until l gave up and herded them all back too! What a bunch of ingrates!!!

Finished!!!

At last! The eternal fence line is done!!!
It still needs a proper gate and not the current metal one it has now. That should be easy though after what l just did!!! !l STILL have about 25 to go to join up the corner in the driveway then it's DONE forever !! l love it!
And the Green Tinge of Spring is finally starting to disappear as Summer kicks in.
A good thing all the girls have had their Summer haircut!!!

Lili and The Wallaby

Today we had a Wallaby die in the front yard. Strange little creatures that they are. When they are sick and only days away from dying they always seem to come into where the humans are and die there! The last few mornings this fellow was under the wagon and then in the garage under my car. At some stage during the afternoon it died in the driveway. Much to Lilli's delight!!!
She stood guard all afternoon...............
Even though it was an exceptionally hot day!
We were not quite sure what her plan was!
Maybe she was hoping if she didn't look at it, it might run away?
Then she could chase it?
Or did she just want to eat it?
One can only wonder what goes on in their heads!!

Tails and Other bits......

Today was the day l dread most each year. The day we put rings on the lamb's tails and on the little boys 'bits'. l just hate doing it and once it's done l have to go inside so l can't see the poor little things. We do it as the last job of the night so mainly by the morning they are ok. l always feel so mean! (Well we ARE being mean l guess!!) Here are some of them blissfully unaware that their day is going to turn to crap by the afternoon!!!!
But at least the garden looked beautiful this morning!!!

What is it with hats??

He's at it again! The big fellow and his obsession with hats! This time it wasn't my straw hat in the firing line but Geoff's baseball cap.
Only THIS time he also removed a large rather painful chunk of Geoff's hair at the same time!!!
He thought he was rather clever!!
Poor Geoff!!!
At least Clips had the decency to look a LITTLE bit guilty!!
Sorry!!!!!
Geoff examines his head to see if there is a big bald patch as Max and Clips do a quiet High Five in the background!!!
Luckily Geoff has lots of hair to spare!!!!
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!
Aggggggghhhhhhrrrrrgggggggghhh!!!!
Peace at last and a little confab to all make sure they are all friends again....
Just hang on to that hat Geoff!!!

Max's Saddle!

Next Winters wood arrived this weekend! Hooray!! Geoff has already begun the big wheelbarrow shift to get it into the log shed. At least we have ALL  Summer to do it! The great benefit of ordering your wood nice and early!!!
Geoff is determined he is going to ride his little Unicorn one day! This weekend we put on a huge old Stock Saddle we have which was waaaaay too big for him, but suited the purpose of getting something on his back and see how well he coped!
He was pretty good! A few tail swishes and stubborn moments but on the whole he was very well behaved!
Even though it WAS rather large!
Max thought maybe doing a Donkey impression might help him get out of it!!
No such luck little man! Stay tuned!
