l love a sunburnt country?

l think when Dorothea McKeller wrote "My Country"  she possibly didn't have Tasmania in mind!!! We are still rugged up in DrizaBones and gumboots and last night lit the fire! The hills around are mist covered morning and evening and the grass is growing like there's no tomorrow. Heaven forbid our fire season if we have a LATE hot Summer.
Took the goats out last night as they seem to have been cooped up a bit recently. Goats HATE rain to the point they will run for cover at the first drops. The other day they were in the big paddock with the sheep and it started to bucket down. Toggles stood at the gate and boy oh boy did she YELL!!! There's nothing quite like an indignant goat!!
High tailing it back to the shed after the rain just kept on coming. Our hay paddock is supposed to be cut today but l don't think its going to be able to happen. A bit frustrating as the grass is drying off a bit now and past its best.
So like l said , we came in drenched with wet dogs,  lit the fire and fell asleep with red wine and dinner on our laps. Wonderful warm and cosy l love it but not quite like what you would THINK January will be!
Our little duckling lost her wing last night. It just dropped off. A sad little purple piece of feather and bone. She is quite OK though and l assume if she survives she just will be a tiny little one winged duck who can't fly!
She is half the size now of the other four but seems to be holding her own!
