Bargain!

Geoff and l called into our local Tip Shop the other day and snapped up two sections of picket fence, $2 for the pair. Great bargain as pickets generally cost about $2 each! Admittedly they are Windsor Pickets whereas the ones we use here are Colonial....but.....never look a gift horse in the mouth so back with us they came!
l wedged one of them amongst the new maple and the red vine.
l should paint them l guess.............but l rather like the peeling paint!!!
A little bit of New England!
The Cat approved!

Walnuts!

Today Geoff and l spent a very cold wet Wintry (in Autumn) afternoon bagging shelled walnuts off our tree for a local market stall tomorrow. We won't be at the stall but we shall wait with baited breath to see how they sell! Necessity being the mother of all invention, they looked quite smart in their bird netting bags and baling twine ties!
We also had a bit of fun experimenting with some of our Pickled Walnuts that we would like to also be able to sell one day (food permits permitting!!!!!) We made these up for friends and family.
These looked fab and were just made with some spare jars we had, a bit of glue, garden twine and a brown paper bag!
Look like they should be in a Delicatessen in Sydney l think!!!!

Paint Your Wagon!

The little wagon is coming up a treat! l managed to get another coat of paint on it today so it is now gleaming black and Deep Indian Red. Last weekend l fixed the poly pipe over the top in readiness for the roof going on!
The green has now all been painted over as l much prefer the red.
The Canvas maker is coming out next Saturday to have a look, give us a quote and bring canvas samples. Very good service indeed! We still need to put the timber slats on to strengthen the whole structure and stop it sagging but l thought l would wait until he came to have a look in case we need more/less or stronger ones!
Should look something like this hopefully!

A few new things....

Another compost bin! This one is in the garden , so much easier to get to! It filled up very quickly!!!!
The start of the Great New Chook Pen! More on this to come!!
The beginnings of our new front gate...(well.one of them......we have several!)
A couple of great new candlestick holders from the tip shop for a few dollars.
 Love this one!
 And Maxie.......... just because...!

Autumn......

Well into Autumn....
 Still heaps of colour around.
But the Basil has well and truly gone to seed!
The vine on the house has grown so much and looks stunning this year.
And the Cockatoos has moved into the Walnut Tree!  We never see a single Cocky all year except for this time. How do they KNOW they are ready to eat???

Gypsy Rosa

l have a very clever Mum! Her latest thing is knitting these amazing dolls. Some have been given to family and friends. l mentioned a few weeks ago that l would love a gypsy doll...so Rosa was born!!!!
She was quite shy when l first took her to have her photo taken............
But  she very soon got the hang of it!!!
And in fact................got a little annoying!!!

And a bit risqué!!!
Then all of a sudden very demanding!!!
And wanted to try every pose under the sun!!!
l needed to go and feed the ducks and yet she still kept on flicking that hair around!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And posing!!!!!
As the sun died down l managed to get her inside and must admit l was secretly quite happy to see that Rosa WAS in fact looking a little bit worse for wear!!!!
Didn't stop her though!!!
Even to the point of getting carried away and a little bit ridiculous..............
Ooooops!.............l did try NOT to laugh!!!!!!!
Then we had a hideous bad hair moment.................
And a serious temper tantrum...........
Before we finally got a  lovely shot of her nestled amongst the cushions! Thank you Mum! An interesting addition to the household!!

Burn Time

It's that time of year again unfortunately. Stunning warm Autumn days, blue skies ,no wind......great day for a Forestry Burn!!!
 Dominating the skyline!
Looking like a vast mushroom cloud  in an otherwise cloudless sky as l head up our road.
And still there like a blot on the landscape when l get home. Nice one Forestry Tasmania...
