Two Girls!

A very pleasant few days at home over the Christmas break. Made extra special by a visit on Boxing Day from two of Geoff's daughters. We had a lovely day and it was so great to see them both.  Sophie falls in love with the big fellow every time she comes down.
l think the feeling is mutual!!!
And raspberries!! She fell in love (and picked!) huge amounts of raspberries and determinedly headed off back to Sydney with a punnet to make raspberry jam in the Big Smoke!

l cant really explain the following photos!!!!!!! It must run in the family l guess!!!!
No words!!!!!
Yep.....must run in the family!!!
 Beautiful day, beautiful girls....

Tail End of December....

We had stunning light this morning. It threw interesting patterns on the paint in the hallway and the laundry.
Very pretty l thought!
Outside the Sun tipped a beautiful golden glow on the tops of the shrubs and trees
And Lilli as she stood waiting to get out of the garden to find Wallabies!!
While old Treek watched in her silent world! Lovely.

Old Boat

Well here is something we don't see every day!!! This old girl suddenly turned up on our road earlier in the week. She is massive, old and very rotten! The trailer it sits on is a huge rusty contraption with enormous wheels that are not particularly pumped up!!!!
We have no idea where it came from or why it's there now or where it's possibly meant to be going!
It will be a brave person who takes on THIS as a renovator!!!
Poor old girl! Lets hope its only a temporary stay in our road and one day she will be back on the waves where she belongs!!!

Summer Solstice???

l just realised that as of today our days start to get shorter!!! Incredible as we only seem to have had a few days of Summer so far! NOT that l am complaining! Not at all! l am eternally grateful for Tassie's mild Summers and LOVE our cold Winters and stunning Autumns and Springs. Just perfect weather as far as l am concerned! BUT it does seem a bit weird still having cosy candlelight dinners inside when the rest of Australia  is probably sunning themselves outside with a BBQ every night!! Ahh well! Lucky us l say!
l would much rather this...........................
To this!!................

Garlic!

It's all go here! This certainly is a time of abundance in the food department! Today l came home from work to this rather lovely display of Garlic drying out in the Sun! Only a quarter of the crop here so lots to go! l think we will sell some, give some away and replant the rest. Geoff is hoping to have an acre or so of it in a few years time.
Today was a warm one (for us!) so the late afternoon was spent watering the garden and getting a few 'must do' jobs done before Christmas. Cleaning up the last remaining pile of gravel out of the front yard has been on my MUST  DO list for ages. Today l finally bit the bullet and got it done. Hooray!! One more off that list!
Then there was just enough time to have a quick wander around the garden to smell the roses!
And all the other gorgeous colours basking in the late Summer light.

Pickled Walnut Time!

Saturday morning at Candlestick Farm. Lilli enjoying a few warm rays of sunshine on the back of the couch.
Geoff picked the first batch of Green Walnuts for pickling.
They all need to be pricked with a fork and left in salty water for the first stage.
l put up (or tried to!!) our last remaining leg of picket fence and shifted wheelbarrows of garden rubbish. Where does it all come from!!!!
It's never ending!
We put the geese back out in the pond area. (and the Ducks) This time they loved it!!Especially the ducks.....................They swam and rooted around in the mud. The goslings flapped around under the water like crazy things! Under Mum's watchful eye of course.!
They all had a ball!
Except Peg. Poor old Peg. The second we got them out to the paddock off she waddled. l didn't have the heart to stop her. She ran back up the paddock, under the gate, across the yard and through the garden back to the orchard where she remained for the rest of the day. On her own ......She obviously would far rather watch Geoff pick Raspberries then swim in a pond like a normal duck.................Poor Peg!

A Bumper Crop!

The fruit season this year has been outstanding! A mild Winter , very few frosts and not much late rain or too many high winds has amounted to an absolute abundance of everything! Everyone's trees whether it be peaches, apples or cherries are groaning under the weight of it all. Our Raspberries are no exception!
Leave it for a few days and it becomes a major task to pick them all...........
Three days worth and the bushes are still laden! Yum!
