The Great Wallaby Hunt!

Last weekend we had Geoff's youngest daughter Bethie and her lovely boyfriend Oscar down to stay for the Friday and Saturday. Friday night is the long standing tradition in the Dixon household........Pizza Night! Hard for Geoff to have to WATCH someone ELSE make them though and not himself!
Closely supervised!!!
He did get to put them in the oven though!!
Oscar was a hit with the wee small dog............
The next morning, armed with sticks, beaters and two dogs, we headed off into the paddock to try and hunt out about 6 wallabies who have got IN and haven't been able to get OUT! A problem with wallaby proof fencing! We made lots of noise and managed to get them through the fence and across three paddocks before they eluded us and high tailed it BACK to where they came from! (sigh!!!) Never mind... we had fun whooping and yelling with Lilli proving to be an absolute stand out Wallaby chaser!!! She ran and ran and ran after them, up and down fence lines! HUGE (well........ huge if you are a 2.5 kilo Chihuahua!) Wallabies being chased by a teeny tiny little dog who could barely leap over the grass clumps!!!! Funny to watch! Treeka proved to be totally useless as predicted and happily gambolled about most of the time heading the wallabies off in the wrong way or not even seeing them at all!!!
Armed and ready for business!
Supremo Hunting Dog!!!
Great visit guys!!!
Hope to see you again soon!

Hanging out for the Sun

l love the way the Sun slowly creeps across the paddock in the morning. We can have a half white frosty paddock and half green grass! The horses stand on the line waiting for the Sun to hit them!
Treeka loves it too....!

Overnight Visit

This weekend we had my nephew and niece sleep over at the farm during a visit to Tassie from Victoria. They had a lovely time and certainly worked hard when they were here! The day began with giving Clips a good brush and a cuddle.(After getting to grips with taking his rug off!)
And hanging it out on the fence............
He just loves the fuss!
Out into the paddock for the day.
Then onto the not so fun stuff...............picking up horse poo!
A quiet moment with our beautiful  little Unicorn....
They fed the cows..................
Shifted sheep!
Carted hay nets!
Carted hay.....
Raked up the hay in the hay shed...................
Carted rugs!! l see a sort of cheap child labour thing happening here!!!!
Almost making me feel guilty looking back at these photos!!!!
Almost!!!!
Toggles watched all the goings on from the comfort of her day bed!!
Then after a hard days work.... toasted marshmallows in the fire.......It's a good life!
With a little bit of fun thrown in!

More tidying up!!

A new visitor this week to our bird food table. Much bigger than the Silver Eyes and the Sparrows. He only stayed for 10 minutes or so, had a feed and off he went. Much bigger but very polite and all the smaller birds were quite happy to share a meal with him!
Saturday was a grey rainy day. In between showers Geoff got the chainsaw out and we sorted out the old bridge timbers that have been sitting in the driveway for...............quite a long time!!!
Just a few more to move and it will look like they were never there!
Poor old Max watched us from afar. Much better now but still on rations. We have had him in the driveway these last few days and he is bored, misses pestering his big mate and is not very happy....
And another current job............lining the little room off the barn. It's mainly filled with harness and horse gear. Up until now it has just been lined with foil wrap so we have nailed a few sheets of MDF on some of the walls to tidy it up a bit.
Just needs a lick of paint and the other walls done and it will look very smart indeed!
