l must say though out of all of it l did take some teeny weeny bit of pleasure out of seeing poor old Maxie with his head hanging down ,dribbling like some ancient decrepit old pony that I could poke pat and prod without any reaction whatsoever!!
We have a new Vet now from the last time. A lovely local girl who is just great and very good with both the horses. One major point of difference with her is that she has this fabulous head holding contraption which meant that l didn't have to stand under half a tonne of horse trying to keep his head up while she did her work. We just slung a rope over a roof beam and tied their heads up with that! and l needed to do nothing!
Maxie first! Poor thing! Legs wobbling all over the place. He also had to have two wolf teeth pulled out which l must admit l had to walk around the corner when she did it! (WITH my hands over my ears!!)
The drill looks like a standard hammer drill but it is made specifically for doing horses teeth. They are made in Canada and imported over Not a cheap machine but very effective and quick. It just looks scary!!
The big boy next. l must say he is a sight to see when he is sedated. He gets very VERY dopey and it's hard to get him to stand squarely on all four legs. Adela found it most humorous as it was IMPOSSIBLE to move him and no amount of pushing, prodding or shoving was going to shift him from his final decided resting spot!
Then the tooth gag only just fitted him on the last hole!
l was very glad to be just a photo taking observer! It looked like hard work! Then it was quiet time for them to come back to situation normal. Maxie recuperated quite quickly but poor Clips took most of the day.
Poor old boy!!
He was so dopey he even let Maxie in his stable to steal his hay!!
That's it for another year boys!
