We have.................

A flower in our fish pond!
A  stunningly beautiful drive to work every morning...................
A half finished library that is slowly coming together.....
A garden that is becoming more and more interesting every day.............
And a brand new oven..............we have a brand spanking new oven!!! We cooked in it tonight and the food didn't burn and it didn't dry out and the oven didn't come on by itself when we turned on the hotplate!
So many things to get excited about!!!

The Beast!

Meet THE BEAST!!! This archaic looking machine is in fact a self propelled slasher mower!! This one is about twenty years old and amazingly the design style has not changed one bit to this very day!!! Love those wheels! This particular one belongs to some very lovely friends of ours who have no use for it anymore (they upgraded to  a REAL tractor!!) We have this on loan for a short time to see if it suits us and to make sure it's what we need.  We decided a while ago that we really have no need for a tractor as probably 6 months of the year this place is too wet to be able to get out there! We do need a slasher to clear the bracken and the brambles but thats about it really. The horse can do any heavy pulling and hopefully this little beastie can do the rest!!!
Geoff with our ever helpful sidekick Martin set out this afternoon to pick it up.Getting it off once they got home nearly proved to be a challenge....It's heavy!
Luckily the second attempt out in the paddock proved easier.
 Proud!!!
Somehow this machine just suits Geoff! He looked (again) like something out of the early 1900's!
But what is it about when men get behind the wheel of machinery they start to pull funny faces???
???????????????????????????????
Mart wasn't much better................................!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's a boy thing l think!!!
Fun over for the evening and off they went to bed! It's tucked into the garage between the two cars!!! l'm sort of surprised it doesn't have a blanket on............................................
And it worked an absolute treat by the way!!!

Garden Guardian

Lilli doesn't really love it when the ducks come into the garden (nor do l as they squash all the plants!)
She tends to cautiously follow them around as they go for their little wander almost like she is kindly asking them to leave!
Tedious work but somebody has to do it!!

Green house!

You are probably unaware that our lovely old cream house  (circa 1895) has in fact for many years been covered in plastic weatherboard cladding!!
It looks OK until you touch it and it creaks!!!! Apparently it was all the rage once with no doubt some smooth talking Sales Rep gushing over the fact that once it was on you would never need to paint again! Today (obviously in an insane moment of truly believing l had absolutely nothing better to do)...l ripped some off!! It was actually quite difficult as it was very firmly in place with lots of long galvanised clouts................But nothing that a good old wrecking bar could'nt deal with!
Just the tiny bit on the veranda by the front door.
What a discovery! What amazes me is that the boards only have two coats of paint on them. This lovely Arsenic Green and a cream underneath. So for all its years it's only been painted twice! Not looking forward to ripping off the cladding on the south side of the place...... A few rotten boards l would imagine!
But we wont be in a hurry to do that and for now we are going to enjoy the shabby faded look! l just love it!!!!

Sunbaking

It was a warm day in Southern Tasmania today. Several times when l walked outside l noticed a little visitor enjoying the sun in total luxury!
He was reclining in one of the tiny bird nests we have collected that sit on the ledge outside the back door
He was quite unconcerned and looked very comfy snuggled in his bed of moss and feathers!
l hope he is there tomorrow!
And l did one coat of cream over the apple/pea green spare bedroom walls! Hooray! Second coat tomorrow. Couldn't resist a satisfying bit of graffiti before l started!

Sleepy goats

Geoff and l had a campfire the other night in the paddock. It's our favourite spot on the block (well........one them!) and with a skillet pan, a bottle of red wine, guitars, some chicken kebabs and bread we were set for a fun evening.........oh and goats......always goats!!! Nothing was safe..........
Ever tried lighting a fire using hay with goats?????
Ever tried to play a guitar with a goat??
Toggles displayed her usual fascination with fire!
Then they got tired......
And wanted to go home....
But of course they wouldn't as they love us!
So they all fell asleep round the fire standing up....
 Yawning away....
Standing between us and the fire so we got no heat and they virtually burned!!
A great night
 Got to love goats!!
