Too red?

Yesterday l finished stripping, sanding and undercoating the barn door. l HAD this red paint so l put it on....l think it's too red. Geoff loves it, but l think l might need to tone it down a shade or two!
What IS funny is the red glow it throws inside the barn when the door is open!
Door closed!!............ Hilarious!! That's SERIOUSLY red!
This also made me smile...Clip's great big long head in shadow over the fence.......
Although his head isn't so big he can't fit it in a water bucket to share a drink with his little mate...
And these make me smile too.......Our new permanent residents under the Walnut Tree!

The trouble with artists.........

Today l slopped a bit more paint onto the library walls. It's starting (slowly!) to look lovely! It's becoming a quiet peaceful place away from the rest of the house to read, play guitar or as in Geoff's case ................paint.
The canvas and paint brushes have taken up residence..........which is fine.................................
BUT the challenge is.... (apparently)......... to learn to restrict the painting to the canvas.............and not onto the walls.....................MY half painted walls!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not quite sure exactly WHAT this little fellow is.....but he is sort of cute......
l doubt somehow now he will ever get painted over..............He will eventually get hidden by a bookcase so no doubt he will fly on his little broomstick in here for many years to come.......!!
Sigh...........................................

My Australia Day!

As l pulled up into the drive coming back from work...........The ute with its bonnet up.........Agapanthas flourishing, despite the dry and the heat.......Geoff playing guitar and drinking beer in the middle of the yard after failing to jump start the slasher mower...... That's my Australia Day!

Job # 2309

Stripping the old flaky paint off the barn door..................
The old barn is pretty tatty. The paint is old and the wood is rotten in places. Outside the ground slopes away to rough messy pebbles and rocks. The plan (one day!) is to paint it  all and level outside to a nice even finish!!!
It will be a big job but definitely worth it! l can just SEE those pots full of geraniums outside!!!!!

Peaches and Paint!

Peach time! Our tiny puny little tree gave us a huge amount of peaches this year! Last year due to the heavy frost we had none!
The kitchen now is full of them! We will stew, bottle and freeze them to look forward to over the winter months!
And a bit of paint therapy for me.......
Much better!! Next job is to strip all the paint off the mantelpiece. A big job l fear due to all the curls and swirls on the woodwork! A Winter job l think!

A few randoms!

Our gorgeous little Nancy. She really is the sweetest little calf..........
Clips sleeping like a dog! Amazingly flexible for such a big horse!
And patient!!!!
This little terror looks so different to when we first got him. Almost unrecognisable as the same pony!
His whole body shape has changed so much!
So sweet...................all of them...............

Shadows!

Just an added bonus to our lovely pink/red/orange!! Tuscan wall! Some beautiful Wisteria shadows thrown on it at the end of the day.
Looks like someone has taken to the wall with a paint brush!
 Just beautiful!

Bringing out the Boy in The Man!

Last week Geoff took to the paddocks with his bow and arrow! l must say it was very impressive although l was quite concerned as to the whereabouts of the two dogs at all times!!! He shot them high into the air as it is so powerful that if he DIDN'T they would end up in the next property!
They went incredibly high!!!
It was impossible to keep tabs on them once they left the bow!!!!
Most of them ended up in a neat little row just on the boundary
Two went astray and ended up in the field next door!
Nothing that a quick sneak over the fence couldn't fix!
Happy Geoff!

A touch of Tuscany!

Today l painted the back part of the house where we have pulled down the shed and put our outdoor setting! It's now a lovely soft shade of orangy pink in a paint that looks like an old lime wash finish. Second coat yet to go but l love it!
An improvement on the dirty old white it was before...............

Donations

This morning l loaded up the Ute with 10 bales of hay and took them to our local Show Grounds where Rural Youth Tasmania had set up a collection point to take feed for livestock down to the Tasman Peninsula.
The irony of it.... dodging to get there in between rain showers, snow on the higher peaks today and all of us rugged up in fleecies against howling wind!
There are apparently hundreds of animals wandering around down there as fences are down and no one has been able to get back to their properties to feed them. Several vets including our own lovely one from the Huon have been going down there day after day bringing back burnt and injured cats and dogs and even today a little Palomino pony with his leg staked. If anyone wishes to donate  please give a thought to the Wildlife Parks  http://www.bonorong.com.au/  and Vets http://www.southerntasmanianvets.com.au/index.htm   who are tirelessly giving free treatment to all these animals .

Time for a Cool Change

Today was windy. Very windy. Luckily though by about 11am the cloud came in and the temperature dropped considerably. We got some rain. Not a lot but enough to make you feel good! Its now cold with the thermometer just sitting on 9.5 degrees. A big change from 41 degrees! No wonder we feel cold! l doubt there are many places in Australia tonight where peple  can say they have dropped below double figures!
We had a bit of a tragedy today here on Candlestick Farm.........................
It was an accident but the results were dire..............
Luckily with a bit of craft glue, TLC and a good old Band Aid l think he might recover...............
When l was in the bathroom administring First Aid to my poor chook, l noticed this rather lovely flower that has popped up out of the pot where the Avocado tree is planted. No idea what it is but its certainly rather beautiful and exotic!

Duck Surprise!!!

Went out this morning to feed the geese and ducks and suddenly realised l hadn't seen our little black duck since the 41 degree day on Friday. She was sitting on eggs wedged right under the shed in the orchard and short of lying on my stomach and crawling in under there, l couldn't get her or her eggs out! l wasn't too fussed as l figured she would give up on them after a while as the drake has been gone a long time now! She normally appears every day or so for a drink, a swim and a bite to eat. l went over to the shelters l had built as l knew that if l peered through a gap in the boards l could see her under the shed. Imagine my surprise when l came across her IN the shed....................with these!!!!!
Nine of the little critters!!! Very sweet, cute fluffy and gorgeous to watch.....but it wasn't really in the plans!!!!
Aside from that little surprise it was a lot cooler today with( in good old Tassie fashion............)......snow of all things forecast for Highland areas on Wednesday! Couldn't get much more extreme examples of weather surely? Heading for only 16 degrees here on that day. A big change from 41c! The cooler weather perked the lambs up no end with this little black one having a wonderful time thinking it was a goat!
Poppy looked on unimpressed!
