Forty Two Birches

Today Geoff and l went thieving! Well , not really thieving!! We went kerbside 'free tree' collecting!
We headed off early armed with dogs, coffee, spade, bags, a bucket and eagle eyes! Before too long we spotted what we were looking for. Self seeded Silver Birch saplings on the side of the road. Out we leap, dig them out of the gravel, into a bucket in the boot and off we go again!. We also collected some poplars and another type of deciduous tree that neither of us know what they are called! One particular place we stopped we collected 42 little silver birches pushing their way up through the blackberries and the roadside gravel! A goodly find indeed!
Once the boot was full we headed for the beach to give the patient dogs a run and us a coffee break and biccie! The dogs ran up and down ...up and down!!!
It was a glorious day...
Lilli loved it!
Waiting for a piece of Custard Cream!
We watched a few boats go by then headed home.
Our stash!!!
We potted the Silver Birches straight away
Now all they have to do is grow!
A good mornings work!
On a windy but beautiful Autumn day
