An Unwelcome Visitor

l was just about to leave for work the other day when l saw what l thought was a Cockatoo gliding over my head and land on the fence around the Chook House. Not that unusual given the time of year with the Walnut Tree their favourite food source at the moment. The chooks however very soon told me that this visitor was NO Cockie!!!
A beautiful White Goshawk! Lovely! But not so lovely when he was obviously eying off the baby chicks below.
l stood and watched him for a while as l figured by now all the babies and Mums would be safely hidden away under a bush or in the shed and really there wasn't much l could do about it when l wasn't there.. They are not a menace here and this is only the third time l have seen one up so close. It wasn't till l peered a bit closer though did l realise that the little white blob directly under where he was sitting WAS in fact a baby chook!!!!
Daft little thing! Heaven knows where its Mummy was!! l DID then go running at the Goshawk! Arms and legs flapping, yelling, leaping and screaming, hoping he would realise that this wasn't really a good safe place to drop in for Chicken Takeaway! It must have worked as he hasn't come back and we didn't lose a single baby chook either! NOT that this big Cowardly  Custard can take ANY credit for that!!! He cowered in the shed with all the girls like a big Scaredy Cat!!!!
Shame on you Junior!!!
