Water Games

The ducks and the geese lead a pretty good life. They have a big orchard to wander around in They have grass aplenty, a safe shelter to go at night, a pond (which they don't like) paddling pools galore to play in, all the food they can eat......and yet....................

All they ever want to do is stand in the back porch, intimidate the dogs and the cat if they try to get in or out, poo everywhere and dabble in the dog's water bowl till it's all muddy and smelly!

And then honk and shriek in deafening, total indignation when l tell them to shove off!

Second best is playing in the small patch of water that pools on the path up to the back door.

They LOVE it and make it even muddier, sloppier and slippery !

It's just what they do!!!

 l think she is scheming a plot to be rid  of them!!

The Eternal Quest for Food!

Hungry cows.......

Hungry sheep!

Hungry goats!

A very hungry horse!!

 And bare grey trees.

Sometimes you need a photo or two to remind you it IS only temporary and the grass WILL  grow and your garden WILL be green again ONE day!

 

Over the Hump!

Shortest day just gone! Hooray! Now the days can start to get longer and we can look forward to BEING on the outside and not looking at it from behind a window!

THIS little dog  hardly goes outside at all this time of year. Closer to the fire the better for her!

Right now is lots of darkness, headlight torches, wet gloves, beanies and soggy clothes! AND the never ending stream of dirty doggy towels! Today out of desperation, l strung a few lengths of good old baling twine along the veranda to dry the dog blankets and towels out.

And our usual Chinese Laundry impersonation in the sitting room. We just have to make sure we warn anyone staying with us that the apparitions floating around the living room ceiling are our drying clothes and not ghosts flitting about to scare us!

The Brick Works!

Another weekend slogging through the brick piles!!! We have now cleaned a respectable 1050!! It's slow laborious work and under the walnut tree is now starting to resemble a brick works!

We have work benches, broken brick piles, uncleanable brick piles and still to be done but bloody difficult brick piles!!!!!

But on a cold frosty Winters morning with the Sun trying to get through the fog......

And the fire pit keeping us warm in the corner...........hot chocolate and delicious Apple and Cinnamon Scrolls for Morning Tea............

It was a quite pleasant place to be!

 And satisfying to look at all these!

 And TRYING not to look at these!!!!!

We will get there!!

Hello Again Mr Winter!

Yes , well its definitely, officially Winter !

Out come the gloves, scarves, hats and thermals. Even down here in Tassie we don't cope well in the plunging temperatures at all!

But l DO love it as it's always stunning. ....Even when the Sun still hasn't risen above the tree line..

And the fact that you can stare straight at the Sun and it just looks like a pale white fuzzy blob behind all the fog!

The house is out there somewhere!!

But when the Sun finally hits the house there is nowhere more beautiful!

Everything glistens, drips, melts and basks in it!

And then you kick off your boots,pull off your coat, leave the greys and the chills of the outside behind and come into this! Warm, cheerful colour! There is nothing better!
