Grand Final Day!

The other day coming home from work l finally got around to stopping to take a photo of this Mad Max style adapted vehicle that sits on the verge  outside an old orchard. It's an interesting version of a movable apple picking platform.Nothing like a bit of innovation to get the job done!!!
With the camera on the front seat it was a good opportunity to take a picture of 'the creepy house'.This little cottage freaks my brother and sister right out!!!! They think its haunted and don't even like going past it!!! It is for sale so will be interesting to see if it ends up with some TLC and a transformation!
When l got home from work on this very very cold blustery snowy Spring day. l found the post and rail fence up AND the gate in between the yards! Very impressed!
 So was the big fellow!
And a sad day for the Tassie Hawks
And a great day for the Sydney Swans!
Footy over for another year. Welcome back cricket!!!!

Glorious Day

What an absolutely stunning day. This morning l had neighing horses, bleating goats, mooing cows , baaaaaaing sheep, clucking chooks, quacking ducks, barking dogs, meowing cats and honking geese all waiting for breakfast yet l just HAD to grab my camera and try and capture some of the beautiful images of colour and light around here.
The lime green of the Willows at the moment is just gorgeous
 Everything was gorgeous this morning!!!!!!
Even a spiders web!!!!!
What was a relief was to see new shoots coming out of the Pom Pom Tree that we massacred last Winter! It's great to know that we didnt kill it and it will bloom again!
Everyone was eventually fed and all basked in the Spring sun...........
Inbetween digging more paths and planting trees l had the Farrier turn up to trim the horses hooves. The trimmed bits are an interesting reminder of the size difference of the two we have!
And this photo is especially for my Mum who said my 'Plinth' looked enormous! She said "take a photo of it beside something ..but not Lilli........ so l can see how big it is" Lilli was most offended at being discounted as a size gauge and  INSISTED on being one.............just once in her life.........Nice job Lilli!
And a stealthy beautiful visitor this afternoon. A Peregrine Falcon sitting on a fence post.
Sadly Tattslotto didnt ring to say we had won $5 million so back to work for me tomorrow......................sigh.

More paths....................

My day off and l spent ALL of it digging more paths! The eternal quest for less lawn! This one has a lovely curve to it and will great when the top layer of gravel is down!
This one just goes from the front steps to the orchard. Probably wont get used much but consists of probably 3 minutes worth of mow save!!!
The last path to go in place is an area too big to be able to cut all the turf out so this one is just going to be edged with old red bricks and covered in weed mat then gravel. This process of digging in each brick seemed to take the longest of all!
Nearly there though and hopefully will finish tomorrow
Then l can order the gravel!!

Box Day?

l found in our local Op Shop today this lovely hand painted box made in India.Only $2 l couldn't resist it!
Also for $5 l saw this little wooden (teak probably) box with two painted ceramic drawers. No need for it but it was too nice to leave behind! When l  got home with my treasures l found that Geoff had been in there today and HE had bought a box as WELL!! HIS box is cleverly disguised as a book!!! So between the two of us we gained three little boxes (which of course we do not need!) all on the same day!!

Perfecting the art.....

Today (whilst l was at work!!!) Geoff mastered the technique of cow pat flipping!!!! Quite WHY you would want to master such a thing is something else  but with Bethie with him today to capture it on film, the knack was achieved!!!
A close up demonstration of such a fine art..........
Of course then it needs to be carted away which is never as much fun!
And was Bethie impressed by her father??.......................... Apparently so!!!

Nearly finished!!

A huge amount of rain last night. So much so that the Wattles were sagging on the ground with the blossom so heavy with water they could no longer stay up!
When l came home from work on this beautiful day l found Geoff and our lovely pal Martin working away in the horse shelter paddock! Armed with smiles and drills they looked like they meant business!
Next stage is running the dividing line in between the two yard areas. It's a slow process with so many other things on the agenda ((((and WORK getting in the way!))))) but we are getting there!
A stunning afternoon to relax and enjoy the late afternoon sun on the front veranda. Just lovely

Weddings and Sebastopols

Two lots of exciting news!!! The first being Geoff got hold of 4 Sebastopol eggs on his truck travels last week  which l slid under our broody goose today!
And what is way more exciting news is that our fine friends Nat and Tim ran off  to get married in New York and tied the knot today as well! Congratulations to you both lovely people! x

Another bargain!

The deals keep flowing! l just happened to be in the right place at the right time today at work and scored this huge magnificent 'plinth' for only $10!! No idea where its going to go (into the plantless flowerbed no doubt!) but it was too good to pass up for that price!!
Also grabbed this large stainless steel ice bucket rescued out of the bin. Now l definitely have NO idea what to do with this! It's NOT going into the flowerbed, but l am sure l will think of something!!

Trees for the future

This morning l planted two trees for us and for the future! This one here is a beautiful Crepe Myrtle
One day...................
And this one an equally beautiful Persian Silk Tree. They will both be stunning in 20 years time!
One day again!!..........
The garden is all green and pinks at the moment (with the splash of yellow Daffodils and Wattle of course!) The blossom on the fruit trees is in full bloom
The Raspberry Bush (no idea of its real name!) is also gloriously pink.
Whilst taking a photo of the tree l inadvertently snapped this huge Bumblebee as he was heading to land into a flower!!!!
Leaving the colour of the garden behind after mowing the lawn l headed out into the paddock where Geoff had burnt off some of the many blackberries we have out there. l spent several hours cutting out the blackened sticks and barrowing them away to a huge growing pile of them awaiting a further final burn! We can't leave them in the paddocks as the sheep get them caught up in their wool! Geoff reckons Hell would be full of Stringy Bark Gums and Possums. l think it would be full of Huntsman Spiders and Blackberries!!!
The next door goats came over to say hello. They are all very tall and rangy compared to ours. This one was just enormous! He would easily be as tall as the pony. l just hope they don't decide to hop over the fence one day!
This one was particularly amusing as its toggles were up under its ears as opposed to the more usual place of under their chin!!! It looked like it was wearing some large exotic earrings!
End of the day and collecting the eggs l found this! Quite possibly one of the most bizarre egg attempts l have ever seen! It's not even the first attempt from a young hen as we don't have any hens at point of lay. Its just one of those odd little 'egg laying mishaps' they must have every now and again!!!

More Paths.....Less Lawn!

A day off for me so l set to to with the spade and spent all day digging out another path.  Also a flowerbed for Native plants which will not be put in place till probably next year! It can sit and mulch down over Summer and end up full of worms like the big bed l am now planting in! It was all hard work!!
The flowerbed will be alongside the fence to the right of the path in this photo. The grass here is always soooooooooooo thick and hard to mow...l wont miss it!!!
Now l have a wheelbarrow full of turf..................
And a paddock....................
And a Ute!!! l advertised it on our local on line Classifieds and have some one picking it up at the weekend. Seems too good to throw away!
Looks like a major highway is going through!!!!
One day it will be all soft and pretty and it will still have ducks and dogs in it !!!
