Luckily (as usual!!!) l had a camera on me when l went outside and caught an amazing first glimpse of the sun peering through the gum trees on the hillside.
Walking back to the house we noticed what looked to be a white rainbow spanning the whole property. It was very hard to photograph and impossible to capture the whole thing so l only have half of it! Apparently (according to Google who knows all!) they are called fogbows! l feel very lucky to have seen one and have never done so before! Here is a small quote which explains why they are as they are!
"A fogbow is a similar phenomenon to a rainbow, however, as its name suggests, it appears as a bow in fog rather than rain Because of the very small size of water droplets that cause fog smaller than 0.05 millimeters (0.0020 in)—the fog bow has only very weak colours, with a red outer edge and bluish inner.
In many cases when the droplets are very small, fog bows appear white, and are therefore sometimes called white rainbows."
Here is ours!!
Here are a few photos l found on Google. They are most common in very cold areas. Which was HERE this morning!!!
This one was taken in Iceland. l liked it as the pony reminded me of our own little white terror!
How amazing! Didn't know they existed.
