Hello Spring!

Spring has sprung! and today was (as hoped!) an absolutely glorious day. It has also signalled the arrival of the little Welcome Swallows back to the property. We saw a few the other day and noticed them again yesterday but today they were here in force, checking out the sheds (and the new horse shelter!) for possible nesting sites.

Apparently they eat approximately 400 times a day! (that’s every 2 minutes) and need to eat their own body weight daily to maintain their health and energy.. They normally migrate north in autumn and winter to SE Queensland (wise birds).Its usual to see them back in Tasmania in the first few days of September.
