We have elephants in our bedroom!! That's probably not so unusual in itself. l am sure lots of people have elephants, giraffes and all other number of creatures great and small in THEIR bedrooms. The weird thing about THESE elephants is that neither of us recall HOW they got there or WHEN they got there!! l noticed them a few days ago when l closed the curtain. Something l do only when there is a full moon on a clear night as it tends to shine through the window in the middle of the night and bathe us so strongly in moonlight it wakes us up! Anyway......there are these elephants! l seem to recall from memory that they lived in the toilet! Quite when they moved to the bedroom is beyond me... l have an inkling they might have been moved by some mischievous visiting niece at Christmas time. Maybe they moved themselves......we will never know.......!!?
Aside from migratory elephants l came across this beautiful little nest at the weekend. This one had eggs in it! No idea where it came from. It was lying on the lawn under the Walnut Tree. It might have fallen out from it of course but it seemed so fragile to have been made in that huge vast messy tree! The eggs were so minute it's almost impossible to imagine baby birds being that small!!! It has joined our growing collection of bird nests outside our back door!
We also had a visitor staying with us overnight. A Kookaburra l found fighting and screaming with another Kookaburra!!. l had no idea two birds could make so much noise! The bigger and stronger of the two took off as l arrived and left this younger one lying in the grass. Too scared and too exhausted to even move. He tried a few half feeble attempts to fly away from me but ended up just lying in the grass with his beak open. He spent a quiet restful night with water and bacon in a dog crate and we released him (in a different spot!!!) the next morning. He was terribly sweet and seemed quite tame and unafraid for a wild bird. Hopefully he wont happen upon the big bully boy's territory again!
And to top off a great weekend we headed off to the Rugby in Hobart on Saturday afternoon. A rare chance to see Union in Tasmania.
Great to see a live game (although it is always better to have commentary and slow mo replays!!!!)
And great to see some brilliant Wallaby players (such as James O'Connor) in action.
A lovely weekend all round. If only one never had to work again..................................!!!
