Goodies!

Ducks in the garden are a nuisance!!
The obvious being that they poop everywhere. They also squash plants and nip off all the little buds that form. Muscovies are an intelligent breed and once they discovered the treats of the garden as opposed to the blandness of their orchard they are incredibly difficult to keep out! Clipping wings does nothing. Have you ever seen a duck scale a fence? No problems, they latch their claws into the wire ,climb up like a monkey and drop down the other side. Something you probably wouldn't believe would happen unless you saw it yourself! There IS an upside of course..... They look cute, they ARE cute, and you will never ever find a slug or snail on your lettuce so your veggies can be pesticide free and perfect!!
Today l found some wonderful goodies in our local Opportunity Shops! First (well this was from our local junk/secondhand store) is this lovely decanter and two glasses. l have had my eye on it for months and walked in their yesterday with a $20 note and asked could l have it for that and he said yes!! It was originally $35 so l was quite pleased. It's very heavy and l suppose l could put a candle in it...........................
In the Op Shop l couldn't resist these outrageous scales!!! Not quite sure what they are for apart from weighing opium perhaps!? They stand over a foot high and l could definitely put a tea light in each of the holders!!!
The hot dry weather continues, so we gave the poor old garden a good long soak last night in readiness for a scorcher (for Tassie!) today. Thank goodness for our pump in the rivulet and thank goodness the rivulet is still flowing!!!
