Mummy's Boy!

l do feel sorry for this little boy! He is the first and only hatched chick from this hen several months ago. As he grew up an only child he never joined in with the other chooks and constantly tagged around with his very over protective Mummy. Sen (the hen) then shoved him off (as they do!) so he started to sleep at night in a nesting box in the chook house with the  rest of the hens. Every night l would go out and place him on the perch hoping he would start to roost at night with the others. Sen then got broody again and hatched her second batch of babies. When the chicks are very small they sleep in wooden dog kennels at night so they are safe and warm. The last few days the young Rooster has taken to squishing back in with his Mummy and younger brothers and sisters!
l must say l have never seen this before!!! Sen doesn't seem to mind and she is quite happy to let him in at there night. Ideally he would like to squish under her like the babies do!
But of course he can't so all he can do is snuggle up behind her ! l just find it so unusual that he has gone back to his Mum as normally once that Mother /Baby link is broken you would think they wouldn't remember ..........but he has and he wants his Mummy still!!!!
