Snapped the cows this morning under the Macracarpa Pine Tree having a snooze. Little Blue is almost as big as her mother now while Auntie Jack towers above them both!! Hopefully only 8 weeks to go before she drop a calf!
Headed back down to the Rivulet in the afternoon armed with shears and loppers and hacked my way into an area of one of the paddocks we hadn't ventured into before! It was just beautiful! l followed the Winter Creek (which is flowing quite strongly) and came across mossy rocks, fairy grotto's and enormous mushrooms! So close to the house but as the land drops away quite steeply to the creek l felt like l was a million miles away in another world (still infested by goats and dogs .........but still another world!!!!)
Back out into the daylight! l had no idea quite where l was going to emerge and was slightly surprised to end up only a couple of hundred meters away from where l started! l felt so intrepid hacking my way through years of neglected undergrowth!!! l just love this whole area of our property. It's overgrown and wild but somehow it has the feel of a long neglected garden just desperate for a good prune and a cut back. There are old apple trees down there and lots of hawthorn that give it a bit of an English feel. l just love it.Thirsty stuff all this exploring! The goats work hard eating about as much as l cut down!!
Finished my lovely day with a glass of red wine in our beautiful warm cosy home.
Had a delicious pasta bake for dinner (and a bottle of WHITE wine!)
Geoff played a bit of guitar, and we talked and listened to music till late into the evening. What a lovely way to end a perfect day!
