A Wonderful Wasteful Sound

l was heartened this morning to peer over the gate into the orchard and see my little wingless duck firmly wedged in between two of her now protective big brothers!! Very nice to see indeed!
This afternoon l drove over to Margate and 'popped in ' to the Tip Shop. The very first treat was the sight of this wonderful proud boy complete with shaved head and Mohican, white and black singlet top , a red over the shoulder handbag and finished off with this massive multi MULTI layered heavy swirling black skirt!! Most unusual for Tasmania l must say. What was even better was that he didn't have any sort of arrogant attitude to go with his outlandish attire and was catching any ones eye who cared to stare with a lovely big friendly open smile. Different for sure but quite enchanting. l couldn't help but steal a photo of him as he walked away with this amazing  heavy Victorian skirt swirling around his legs! Good for him. l thought he was quite gorgeous!
Oh and did l mention l bought a $2 candlestick holder????? (l needed one........) Also a beautiful $2 red glass vase which l thought was wonderful...
l also indulged ANOTHER $2 on this bizarre Balinese hand carved wooden monstrosity!!! No idea WHY l just liked it!!!
Hideous gargoyle style wooden carved heads abound!!! Sort of looks like an angry chicken to me!
Got home with my treasures and not long after Geoff came home from work. He had cleaned up the River Pump and she was finally ready to back in after a clean up, repair and service, so we pulled out the trusty Ute and put in the pump loaded up the dogs and headed down to the river with our potential gold mine!! The dogs haven't quite got a handle on this Ute thing yet......
"One would enjoy it so much more if only one could SEE!!!"
Geoff put the pump back into the little house it has there and cranked her up! Took a while to tighten this and that and clear air blockages and prime it to go but away it went with a rumble and a big gush of water!
Eventually!
Its a wonderful thing to have water here in Australia. We can so easily take it for granted living in cities and towns. Take one step back and rely 100% on collecting what falls out of the sky is another thing all together! Add to THAT a whole collection of thirsty animals and it becomes even more precious! Without this pump in the river l doubt we would be able to collect enough water to be able to have them all. One tiny thirsty cow will drink half a bath of water on a hot day!So to have water pouring into our river tank and into our troughs is pure gold indeed. We can water the vegies, water the garden and water the animals without having to worry about ever running out! (unless the river runs dry of course!!!)
Geoff always says some of the best things in life are a wood shed full of wood and a tank full of water. When the tank finally filled up and overflowed he said 'ah what a wonderful wasteful sound"..................Riches indeed!...............
