So Dry

Still pretty dry down here in Tassie. We are not used to this. Declared drought in some parts of the State have farmers battling to feed their stock and produce any crops due to lack of rain. Combine that with over 50 lightening strike bushfires raging up in the North and Tassie seems pretty grim at the moment.
The smoke has drifted down here to the South and the Valley( as is everywhere else) is shrouded in a misty haze of smoke)
It always makes you nervous when you suddenly get a whiff of burning gum leafs only to satisfy yourself after studying the Fire Service website that there isn't a fire down here, it's the smell incredibly drifting all those miles to get down here from up North.
Everything seems yellow and a very tired green.
Cracked bare earth is definitely not something we are used to!
We are a lot luckier than some though, with creeks still trickling water and coming out of the hillside to still give us a slight pick of green grass on this bank!
But not this one!!
And just a few pages of our local Tasmanian Fire Service website with page after page of Going bushfires. Mostly in relatively unpopulated areas, but thousands and thousands of hectares burnt so far.
Waiting for the rain......
