Another gate triumph!!

Today l didn't seem to do very much!! Apart from a bit of painting outside half an hour before it poured with rain! (sigh!)
l noticed this morning as l walked past the new ex spare bedroom the unusual marks on the far wall!! Quite intriguing until l realised they were patterns of light thrown from the lamp shade on the ceiling!!!
l moved a bit of outdoor stuff around to give us an clear view of outside when we sit in there The window is so low it's not much fun out looking onto the back of a chair.
So things got squished in corners. (this is a bad idea l know as in a week it will be completely tangled up in grape vine tendrils!)
And the Tea Tree plant climbing up the handrail got hacked down to a stump so we can see the garden better!!!
l also hung another gate! Two in fact!! This was hard on my own! They were most un-obliging and fell on my head several times until l got it right!!
One swings beautifully but the other one (the shut one obviously in the picture!) needs a bit of dirt dug out before it will swing properly. It might be easier to be a bit clever and hang that one to swing outwards but I am a bit over gates at the moment so it will have to wait!
l  also put the two angled pieces of wood in the middle as they didn't have them before when l made them originally and they kept leaning sideways every time l moved them!
They look ok, but not great! There is a definite art to hanging gates that's for sure!! But there is NO baling twine and no chocks of wood in sight!!! Nothing!! Yay! Well done me!

Busy Day!

Sun shining today!!! It was great to get outside and do some work! First up was cleaning out the hay barn so we can get the nose of the farm ute inside for Winter. Lots of sneezing involved but l got it all done and the sheep benefitted from the scraps raked up off the ground!
This fella was hoping too but he's fat enough already!
Next job was clearing a whole heap of cuttings and prunings to go onto a Winter bonfire. Daylight Savings ends next weekend so all these jobs need to get done before Winter sets in and the ground turns to bog!
Then a spanner in my day occurred when somebody rang to say they wanted to collect  the bunk beds which l had advertised in our local Classifieds. We have decided to turn one of our bedrooms into another sitting room rather than having two rooms in the house going unused as Spare Bedrooms. The bunk beds and the single bed are to go. The lady was coming on her own to collect them so l thought l would get it all ready so it was easy for us to load them up. Ha! Not as easy as it sounds! Geoff and l made the beds up IN  the room and there was no way on this planet was it possible to get them OUT in one piece!! So l had to dissemble them to get them out of the door way and onto the veranda!
It took hours!!! l had assured the lady they were already put together so l thought l had better put them all BACK together before she arrived as all l had was a pile of metal, wood and Allan keys on the front lawn!! Got the job done just in time!!! She turned up with this enormous Chevy ute  which promptly then broke down in the driveway!!! She was waiting for a part to arrive from America to fix the problem which didn't help as in the meantime l had this very nice but unknown and rather unwanted time consuming visitor wedged across the entire yard!!! She also had with her a very sweet Japanese backpacker who was over here picking blueberries. He fell in love with the Walnut Tree and disappeared up into it for the whole duration!! A few phone calls to her hubby (who works on a gas rig a two hour helicopter flight off the coast of WA) and she got it going! Phew! The Japanese boy finally climbed down from the branches, came over to me and very sweetly said 'Thank you for the Tree" Gorgeous!!!
So l have no bunk beds and an empty room as l took apart the single bed at the same time......
Bedroom body parts everywhere................
So l decided l might as well go the whole hog and try to get everything in the right rooms as l was now having a furniture removal kind of day.....So the big bed went back into this room............
And the makings of our den/snug/music room/sitting room begins............
Yep l think l deserved one of these today!

Selfies with Maxie

Another wet wet day!! Another opportunity to get stuck into more indoor jobs! l decided to make a start on our bathroom as the bath is not too far away from arriving! l have always hated the green door so out came the paint stripper ,heat gun and wire brush!
And off came the skirting boards on the floor in readiness for the timber lining to go on.
Phew! It is hard work! l wonder if l can convince Geoff to go for the 'distressed unfinished' look???
l had to stop when l ran out of paint stripper!!! On the shopping list for my next trip into town!
Geoff is away at the moment and old Treek is missing him. She spends all day on the veranda hoping to see him coming down the drive!
l thought l would take a photo of me and Max so Geoff could see how this little mate is going without him. Ha .......what a joke!!!!
Ever tried to take a selfie with a hair eating Monster???
Who just wants to possibly whisper in your ear....................
OR possibly take your ear off!!!
He never EVER has...................he always behaves perfectly..........
But with that mischievous glint in his eye...............you just never know!!!
About the closest we got to success!
And the rest were just funny faces...................
Little terror!!!!!
Just love him...............

Rainy Day

A very wet drizzly start to the day today.
No one wanted to go outside...........
Not the chickens..................
Not the goats...............
And not the horses!!!!
It was a good opportunity to get an inside job done!! Geoff had recently pulled out the dishwasher and put a few shelves into the gap. Ideal for the big saucepans and pots.

So l painted  the white sides and stained the pine to match the cupboards! Perfect!
By late morning the rain cleared enough to get outside. l excelled myself indeed by actually hanging a gate!!! One of  several gates we have about the place STILL tied up with baling twine and wire!
One down..........about 10 to go!!!
l also put the sheep up in the big paddock for a while. It's always easy enough to move them! Just rattle a tin and they all come running!!!
One thing l was not happy about was seeing THIS  through the kitchen window!!! Not the little baby one we have had around for a while This one is quite a bit bigger. Unfortunately the gate from the hay paddock was open and this critter has found his way into the garden judging by the amount of eaten and trodden plants and wallaby poo everywhere! Not happy at all!!
With Lilli sniffing him out l tried to find him but he had vanished! No idea where he went! Either back into the garden or the Veggie Garden!
She tried so hard to find it!!!
Well done Lilli!!!
l put Maxie out in the River Paddock for a bit of a run which he just loved! He flew like the wind up and down the fence line.
Then a snuggle up to his best mate before dinner!
And a stunning double rainbow at the end of the day. Lovely.
