Tree Surgery!

Today l did a Spring (??) clean , my greatest achievement being FINDING the Dining Room table which has been lost under jigsaw puzzles, books and candlesticks for the last few months! It was nice to give it a polish and see it sparkle!!
This afternoon the Tree Surgery men arrived to once again chop the Crack Willow away from the power lines that run over our boundaries.
They arrived and promptly sat (lay) down for lunch!!! You can just about spot them under the truck on the other side!!!
Then after much discussion they finally got into it...
They certainly meant business this time and have cut an enormous swathe of trees down across the creek.
But better then it all catching fire l suppose!!!
l was given some old old horse winkers today by some lovely friends of ours who have a farm on the Yorke Peninsula in South Australia. These old Winkers are held together with rope and wire. A reminder of the days when the gear didn't have to look good......it just had to work!!
The equestrian world of today would be horrified if this old bit went into a horse's mouth nowadays. Crude, rough and homemade they are certainly far far removed from the sleek hi tech stainless steel contraptions we use today.. Horses in those days that worked every day all day probably would have done the same job with a piece of twine or wool in their mouths! It wouldn't have taken much of a command for them to stop and not walk on again until they were asked. Unlike our fat underworked overfeed beasties we have today that are lucky to get 15 minutes of work a week! No wonder we need bigger stronger pieces of metal in their mouths to stop them!
Finally a quick walk down to the front gate to give the dogs a run and the last opportunity of the night to chase a wallaby should they see one!!!
