Sleeping Beauty

One of my favourite things  living in Saddlers Cottage was the beautiful view l had of the mountain at the 'top' of the Huon Valley .The locals call  it Sleeping Beauty. Its real name is Collins Bonnet (not quite so charming!)
It derived its nick name from the very obvious profile of a woman's face lying down  which you can clearly see if you tilt your head to the right!
She never looks the same from one day to the next and apart from the telegraph poles and the wires (sigh!) she was a photographic dream whenever she was bathed in light,
 swamped by mist
simply glorious on a warm summers day
and so on and so on!
Snow!
Can't forget all the times she is covered in snow
even on Christmas Day!
and very hard to climb! l haven't done so yet but l really should......
Its very easy to take for granted living in such a beautiful place so its nice to re-cap and appreciate how lucky we are to be here.
one day l will stand on her nose and look down at the little house l used to live in.

one day...........

  1. After considerable mental triangulation, I'm fairly sure we can see the other side of those peaks from our house. I've been tempted to wander off on a suicidal quest to reach the pinnacle on more than one occasion.

Also, I'm not sure whether this is common knowledge or not, but it was pointed out to me that there's another sleeping beauty on the south-eastern spur of Mount Wellington, best visible from eastern shore around Howrah.
