Today we had two disasters both of possibly epic damaging proportions.
The FIRST one was when l peered out of the bedroom window this morning to see how the day was shaping up and the two horses were standing there at the gate looking.......not quite right. Clips was standing very still and very straight. Max was behind him and out of my vision. l stood there for a while trying to work out what was wrong with the picture.. l decided that donning dressing gown and gumboots was called for and l headed out the door calling Geoff on my way out that something seemed a bit odd.
As we walked down the track we saw what had happened. Max, the little monkey had at some stage (and we have no idea how long ago) had reared up in front of Clips (wanting to play!) and has he landed , his little hoof and whole leg right up past his knee had gone down the front of Clips rug where it does up at the chest!! Poor little Max was standing on his two back legs, occasionally rearing up trying to free his leg so he could stand on all fours again! The big boy was standing there with his head held high so he didn't get whacked on the chin every time Max went up!!!! (don't expect a photo here folks...............this was NOOOOOOOOOOOO time for my camera!!!!)
Luckily, good manners and sensibility held out for both of them as l approached and thought l was going to have to get a knife and cut open the rug as the weight of Max on the buckles made it too hard for me to undo them! In the end l got my hands right down the front of the (now very stretched) rug and managed to get them under Max's hoof and literally hoisted him out!!! He was so good and a little subdued.!! l expect due to the old injury on his hind leg that he would have been really quite sore. A horse is not designed to stand on only two legs for very long!! Clips was very grateful to have the little white pest removed from around his neck and off they went for a well deserved breakfast. If could have been disastrous if either had panicked and tried to take off or thrash around. Luckily no harm done!Phew!!
............................
Oh yes..........................the SECOND drama/disaster??????
On returning back to the house we discovered that Pushka was in Lillis chair...........luxuriating in the pink warm fluffy blankets......... She was purring........ she was stretching......... she was sooooooooo happy to be there...........
And Lilli was shivering......... curled up in the OTHER chair ...........with NO pink blanket......... NO hot water bottle........ all she had was a HARD cushion and Geoff's BLUE dressing gown............ and life was just SO awful she couldn't even bear to look at us!!!!!!!
A disaster indeed.....trust me!!
