Roof space and Cracked Willow!

An absolutely glorious day today! The sun came streaming through all the windows and it was quite a shock as l left our sunny hollow to go to work and drove down into the fog filled valley barely being able to see 5 feet in front of me! When l lived IN the Valley the fog never bothered me l just accepted it as part and parcel of living there. but now we live ABOVE the fog line its a whole different kettle of fish having to descend down to it!!
Last night was the first time l had had a peep upstairs. Its wonderful! Just one great big cavernous area just begging for a floor and a dormer window or two! (and insulation and plasterboard too of course!) One day.... one day..... one day..................................!!!! It was quite comforting to see how many and how thick the pink batts were up there!
One of the beautiful parts of this place (one of the many!) is the row of Cracked Willows that follow the Fleurtys Rivulet boundary in the front paddock. Cracked Willow is also unfortunately  a noxious weed that ruins and diverts waterways and can turn them into stinking swamp land. When the willows break, they fall across the water dam it up and sprout up from the fallen limb and so it goes on. The Rivulet diverts badly into our hay paddock because of this problem.. Armed with hoes and vicious spiky looking implements, refreshments, dogs and cat (Possum of course!) we spent an hour or so doing a tiny bit to try and divert even a small part of it back to the river. Bit nervous about leeches but a job well done and even our minuscule effort released a lot of water back to the Rivulet. We will go back when the water is lower and drag out some branches and clear it a bit more. (Just one extra job in our spare time! )
Geoff confers with Site Manager and Supervisor Possum as to the best way in...

Poor Lilli. Chihuahuas just aren't cut out to be intrepid!
You can almost hear those  banjos playing!!
Before and after shot of our diversion attempt. A slight improvement we feel!
