DanCare!

One area of our place is an overgrown stretch of land that borders the Fleurty's Rivulet. In theory 10 metres back from the water is Crown Land and not ours but its not a place that will ever be  reclaimed by the Crown so we safely  assume it is ours to use and enjoy in the meantime. In the photo below its the gum tree line you see in the distance (past the beautifully brush cut sheep paddock now void of pin weeds!!!
l have decided to adopt my own version of Landcare down here and out of it yesterday DanCare was born! So armed with cutters, saws , secateurs ,gloves (champagne) dogs, cats and goats we headed off to do some serious clearing!
Initially we just cleared a walkway which gives us easy access to the river. l have sectioned off initially a reasonably small area. A sort of square between four gum trees to be my first plot to tackle! We piled up branches, bracken and general rubbish and cleared a decent bonfire area to burn as much as we can before the Fire Bans are put in place for the Summer.
The goats had a ball and did a good job of nibbling brambles and willow leaves!
Treek found something absolutely fascinating in a tree and spend a long time looking  straight up!
l peered up there with her  for a while but could see nothing.............! Mind you , its a very tall tree!
The path we are creating
Slowly hacking away!
The path eventually opens up into the wildest area of the place. Its a spot where the sun won't shine much in summer or winter but its a lovely quiet hideaway and perfect goat territory!!
We eventually gathered all together, yes and the cat who is in the photo too (no surprise there though !) and headed home. A really good few hours work which will only get better.l must say l am really looking forward to working in this rather forgotten area of ours.
PS What is it with lambs in boxes! Here is the  day old little boy cuddled up next to the Sheep Lick!
