Five cute fluffy ducklings...........One proud first time Mum.! Shes a lovely little duck and has no problems letting me take her babies away for a cuddle and a pat. Her sister however who is also sitting on eggs would have no qualms whatsoever on taking my hand off !And two more babies! Well done Louise! Geoff got up early this morning to check on her and came back with a big grin on his face saying "twins!' We knew she would have two.She was so massive she couldn't possibly have had only one!
A little girl! A tiny little thing!
And a little boy! That's three males and one female! Grrrr!! Luck of the draw l guess! At least all babies and mothers are doing well! The little boy has a little black spot on his knee! A sort of cheeky little snip at our desire to have black lambs this summer! Looks like thats all we are going to get! One black knee!!! Mind you, as they have dried off they seem to be developing a bit of brown and white amongst their fleece so the next few days as they clean up should give us an indicator if any colour is to be had! The little ram definitely seems to have pale chocolate brown legs to his knees!
While l sat in the yard watching and photographing the new arrivals,Lizzie and the older two lambs had a bit of a game on the chopped down pin rushes! She loves mingling with the sheep which isn't surprising considering she was born and brought up in a herd environment. While these three were playing Miss Spoilt Brat Toggles from Hell was climbing on my back, sucking my ear, eating my clothes and chewing the strap on my camera case!!!!!
